the thumbnails to the right are no longer random

The Flickr thumbnails on this site are actually from seattle.photobloggers.org group at Flickr. There is a reason to post something there. Try it - it will show up here the moment you add it to the group pool!

what should this site be like?

I have asked a few questions in an email to current and potential members:
  • Is there something in particular you'd like to see at the site? It will likely to be similar to other city sites – but is there something you'd like to see there first?
  • I really like the "recently posted" digests such as the ones at http://chicago.photobloggers.org/ and http://london.photobloggers.org/ . There doesn't seem to be common support for it and both require posting somewhere other than your own blog. Apparently nobody has invented a better solution yet… I am thinking of using Flickr for this (as most people do). Getting a picture to the site will involve posting a copy to Flickr. How does that sound? I've created a group http://www.flickr.com/groups/70159757@N00/ - feel free to join and start playing. I'll show its feed at the site when I see that I am not alone there.
  • Speaking of Flickr, I've discovered that there is Seattle Photobloggers and Seattle Flickr Meetups . If you are part of either I'd love to hear what it is like and how this site can relate to Flickr company (which seems more established at this point).
  • And finally, if anyone wishes to contribute – both to site design and content, please do!

The single most requested feature is a real RSS-based picture digest. Apparently some people have figured it out - http://www.blimage.de/ has it the way I think it should work. Mark has kindly offered to help figure it out - and we can use more help!

Thanks, let's continue the discussion here.

construction update

permanent address is coming soon. meanwhile, this is an update of the site layout. it is nowhere near pretty and you can see leftovers of a standard blogger template I have started with... but it is ready to carry real content and it is set up to show picture digeset via Flickr!
